The term suggests if one cannot looksmaxx, as in become attractive, then one should ropemaxx instead. The term seemingly originates from4chan's/fit/board, starting as early as 2018. In the 2020s, specifically in 2023, Ropemaxxingmemesbecame commonplace on Tik Tokinspired by the Looksmaxxing Tik Tok trend and otherironic memesabout Lookismand its techniques.
