Skebob was created and shared by Pinterest user Jenn Norpchen in December 2017. The photo of the artwork was turned into animage macroas early as July 2024, when Russian Sound Cloud rapper Erosion used it for the cover of his song "4Пенопластырь Клубняк 2008." The memes were further popularized both inside and outside of Russia on Tik Tokin late June and early July 2025 as an AItrend in which AI programs are used to bring Skebob to life, including memes where he fights against the character Roblox Egor.
